Terms of use
Last updated 21 September 2026. QACut and qacut.com are provided by Nick McInnis ("we"). Questions: hello@qacut.com.
The software
QACut is free and open source under the MIT License. That licence governs your use of the software: you may use, copy, modify and redistribute it, with the copyright notice kept, and it is provided as is, without warranty of any kind. We are not liable for any damages arising from its use, to the extent the law allows.
Installers published on GitHub are code-signed by Nick McInnis. Builds from anywhere else are not ours.
What you are responsible for
- What you capture. QACut records whatever is on your screen, and, if you turn them on, your microphone, camera and keystrokes. It is up to you to have the right to capture it: other people's data, confidential material, and anything your employer, client or the law restricts.
- Where you send it. Copying a screenshot or a bundle to a chat, an email or an AI agent sends that content to that service, on that service's terms. Check what you are pasting before you paste it, and use the blur tool on anything that should not travel.
- Your files. Everything QACut makes lives in your
~/QACutfolder. Back it up as you would any other folder.
The website
The content on qacut.com is ours or used with permission. You may link to it freely. The QACut name and the scissors mark identify this project; please do not use them in a way that suggests we made or endorse something we did not.
The site and the app link to third-party services, chiefly GitHub. Those services have their own terms.
Changes
We may update these terms; the date at the top is the version in force. Continued use after a change means you accept it.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
